We use 100% natural soy wax and a blend of fine fragrance and essential oils. Also we use cotton wicks and recyclable glass jars. We try to eliminate use of plastic as much as possible from the start of candle making to the packing and shipping.
All our candles are hand poured in small batches locally in Greystones, Co Wicklow.
All our orders are packed on-site and dispatched via our local post office and courier network.
Our burn time is calculated based on the burning for the recommended 2 to 4 hours at a time. If you burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time your candle will burn faster, and will decrease the overall burn time of your candle. This is because the jar heats up to the hotter than recommended temperature, resulting in the wax melting faster.
To get the most out of your burn time, we recommend not burning your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time.
- Apothecary style 180ml Amber glass containers are approx 35 hours burn time.
- Apothecary style 500ml Amber glass containers are approx 85 hours burn time.
Our candles range in sizes specified below:
- Black Lid Amber Glass Jar, single wick : 9cm (h) x 6.5cm (w), 180ml and 35+ hours burn time.
- Black Lid Amber Glass Jar, triple wick : 9cm (h) x 11cm (w), 500ml and 85+ hours burn time.
We use 2 types of containers:
- Apothecary style Amber glass container (180ml/approx 35 hours burn time)
- Apothecary style Amber glass container (500ml/approx 85 hours burn time)
All of Glow Bottle candle jars are reusable and made from recycled glass, sourced in Ireland and further in Europe. Wherever possible, we will always reuse any packaging we have received from stock orders before buying anything new. We also offer Refill System for all our candles.
We’re very proud of what we’re already doing, but there is still plenty of work to do.

To prolong the life of your candle, follow the tips below:
- When lighting for the first time, burn for a minimum of 2 hours or until the wax melts across the entire surface of the jar. This prevents tunnelling and creates an even burn.
- Do not burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at one time. This can damage the wick which may cause it to fall over, lift or result in an undesirable burn.
- Before each burn, trim wick to promote an even burn, steady flame and limit mushrooming of the wick.
Please follow the recommended safety information:
- Read the label before use.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Always leave at least 10cm between burning candles.
- Keep away from draughts and flammable materials.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Always trim the wick before lighting.
- Do not burn a candle below 5mm from the base.
- Keep the wax pool clear of matches and other debris.
- To minimise possible smoke, never burn more than 4 hours.
- Never move a burning candle.

If you receive a candle you are not absolutely in love with, please let us know and we can arrange an exchange. You will be responsible for return postage, and postage of the new item. We do not offer refunds. Please email candles@glowbottle.ie for more information.
